Website or web application?
It's an important distinction, because they solve different problems:
- A website presents your business — services, gallery, contact, WhatsApp — so customers find you and reach out. If that's what you need, my website packages start at $450 with the Founders offer.
- A web application goes further: it stores and manages the information and processes your business runs on. Think logins, roles, an admin panel, a database, and screens built for your workflow — not just content to read.
If you're not sure which one fits, tell me what you want to be able to do, and I'll point you to the right option honestly.
What a custom web application can do
Every application is scoped around your actual needs. Common building blocks I develop:
- Users, roles and permissions — different people see and do different things.
- Admin panels — manage your own content, records and settings without touching code.
- Databases — your operational data, structured and queryable.
- Process and order/payment tracking — follow a request, order or task through its stages.
- Bookings and inventories — reservations, stock and internal processes.
- Change history — see what changed, when and by whom.
- Reports — dashboards and exports around the metrics you actually track.
- Integrations — connect with other systems and tools you already use.
Everything is responsive: it works from a phone or a computer, so you and your team can use it wherever you are.
A real example: MJM Cuban Sweets
A good example of a custom system is MJM Cuban Sweets, a real client. It's more than an informational site: alongside the public storefront (product catalog, WhatsApp ordering, reviews), it has an admin panel — mobile-first screens to manage orders, reviews, special requests, the catalog, photo uploads and a conversion dashboard.
That's the line between a website and a web application: the public side presents the business, and the private side stores and manages what the business runs on. See the live site or the technical case.
Security, backups and maintenance
Storing your business information means the infrastructure behind it matters more than for a simple site. Every project defines, in writing:
- Where the data lives and how access is protected.
- What backups are set up and how often — configured and verified for your project, not a blanket promise.
- What support covers, and the response times you can expect.
- How changes and new features are requested and quoted.
I'd rather set clear, honest expectations up front than promise "unlimited" anything.
What's not included (unless quoted)
To keep expectations honest, some things are outside the standard scope and are only included if we agree on them explicitly in your quote:
- Bank or payment processing, payroll, taxes and labor compliance.
- Financial integrations.
- Native App Store / Google Play apps — I build responsive web apps that run in the browser.
- Unlimited support, or a universal daily-backup guarantee.
Support scope, response times and backup frequency are defined per project, in writing.
Scope, price and how I work
Custom applications vary too much for a fixed price, so each one is quoted individually:
- Development starts at $1,500, depending on scope.
- Renewal starts at $300 per year, depending on infrastructure, storage, backups and the level of support required — this is separate from the flat $150/year renewal of the informational website packages.
- Both the development price and the renewal are presented in writing before work begins.
I work 100% online from Naples, Florida. Direct support is in Spanish; written communication in English is welcome with translation support.
